Careers

​​​​Aston Post-16 students are supported in their careers education through:

  • Access to free appointments with two trained careers advisors, Mr Shaw and Mr Raymond, in the Post-16 area.

  • A careers focus in tutor time from Easter in Year 12 to October in Year 13 including detailed information, advice and guidance relating to university, employment, apprenticeships and gap years.

  • A 1-page UCAS helpsheet for completing university applications.

  • A detailed Post-16 Options booklet.

  • A free visit to UCAS Discovery in Year 12 which aims to help student explore their post-18 options.

  • A free visit to Sheffield Hallam University in Year 12.

  • An appointment with the Post-16 team to review and send their university applications.

  • Regular advertising of local higher and degree apprenticeships and employment opportunities through briefings and Google Classroom.

  • Careers talks from local and national employers such as AMRC (Design, Engineering and Manufacturing), the NHS (Health) and PWC (Accountancy, Finance and Law).
