The House System

Students in years 7, 8, 9 and 10 are part of our house system.

There are four houses with each tutor group belonging to a specific house. Each house is led by 3 members of Aston Academy teaching staff , with a
coordinator overseeing events.

Students gain points for their house throughout the year via excellence for attendance, academic progress, sports, resilience, community tasks or extracurricular opportunities.

There are further opportunities for house points through the termly challenges students take part in.

The four house crests and names originate from owners and inhabitants of Aston Hall. The great house Aston Hall stands in a hundred acres of wood land. The Aston Estate comprised of
Aston Hall, 11 farms and the whole of the villages of Aston and Netherthorpe. Through this we hope to inspire pride and knowledge in our local area and its history.

Each of the four houses have 2 House Captains and 2 Sports Captains, with additional representatives from each tutor group. These students gain opportunities to contribute to assemblies, take part in event organising, input
towards student voice, and take leading roles in school events. They wear a badge on their blazers indicating this position of responsibility.
