Academy Closure - 1st March 2018

Academy closure due to inclement weather conditions – Thursday 1st March 2018

The academy is always reluctant to authorise any school closure day because of the impact on the learning and progress of students and of course family arrangements, however, the decision to close to students and staff is made early in the morning, between 6.00 and 6.30am, to make the situation as manageable as possible. Factors taken into consideration when closing the academy today include:

  • students and staff being able to make their journey to school safely;
  • ensuring that enough teachers are in the academy to supervise students safely, enough site staff to keep the site heated and pathways clear and enough associate staff to provide services such as catering, administration and first aid;
  • students and staff being able to move around our site safely and not being at risk of injury through falls.

The situation regarding school closure will be reviewed throughout the day and our website will be updated with relevant information.
